Shinshinim Hub Manager
Location: Northbrook, IL-based office with a hybrid working structure and travel throughout the Chicagoland area for programs and events
Salary: $80,000-$90,000; commensurate with experience
Experience: Prior experience in the education field, with proficiency in Hebrew and Israeli culture preferred

In collaboration with schools, camps, universities, travel experience providers, and more, The iCenter supports North American and Israeli educators with training, tools, and resources to bring Israel into learners’ lives. ABOUT THE SHINSHINIM
The Shinshinim (a group of Israeli high school graduates) serve as cultural ambassadors and volunteer educators in the Chicagoland Jewish community. Shinshinim have committed to a year of volunteer service and spend a year abroad, strengthening Israel-Diaspora relations through:
- Making Israel more accessible and fostering strong connections
- Sharing knowledge about Israel, its people, and culture
- Building relationships with community members
ROLE OVERVIEW
As the Shinshinim Hub Manager, you will oversee the strategy, implementation, and day-to-day management of the Shinshinim program in the greater Chicagoland area, which includes the northern suburbs and city of Chicago. In an external facing role, you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and maintaining relationships with host families, partner schools, and organizations in the United States and Israel. The Shinshinim Hub Manager also coordinates educational and professional development for Shinshinim on a weekly basis.
WHAT YOU WILL CONTRIBUTE
Your role includes but is not limited to:
- Collaborate with The iCenter team to create frameworks for mentorship, strategy, and implementation in order to achieve program improvement and growth
- Manage logistics on behalf of the Shinshinim, which includes updating calendars, scheduling meetings and professional development sessions, coordinating healthcare needs, transportation, and weekly check-ins
- Develop relationships and mentor the Shinshinim as they navigate their time in schools and in the community
- Cultivate relationships with partner schools, oversee school supervisor check-ins, and provide one-off support as needed
- Partner and engage with host families on behalf of the Shinshinim, which includes facilitating host family group gatherings and promoting local Chicago area events
- Identify and leverage new local organization partnerships, as well as liaise with existing Israeli partners such as the Jewish Agency for Israel, Tzofim, local Israeli communities and families during recruitment, onboarding, and management of the program
- Support The iCenter with additional tasks as needed, such as building partnerships and representing The iCenter at local events
ROLE EXPECTATIONS
- Flexibility to work on-call, as well as evening (5pm-10pm) and weekend hours in order to interact with participants, partners, and host families
- A vehicle is required where you may be transporting and/or meeting Shinshinim at appointments and events throughout the Chicagoland area
- Attend JAFI recruitment and orientation events in Israel, in addition to local events in North America on a quarterly basis
SKILLS
- Exceptional organizational skills, capable of managing both the big picture and intricate details
- Highly detail-oriented with excellent time management abilities
- Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
- Self-motivated and able to initiate and move forward independently and collaboratively with tasks
- Proven ability to meet deadlines consistently
- Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills
- Flexible and adaptable to changes and unexpected challenges
QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Fluent in English; Israeli culture and Hebrew fluency preferred
- Bicultural understanding of US and Israeli cultures; Familiarity with Jewish Agency programs and content areas
- Passion for Jewish and Israel education
- Team management experience, which includes strong leadership and team-building abilities
- Proven experience in educational administration and logistics management
- Experience working with teens and facilitating youth groups strongly preferred

This is a full-time position based in Northbrook, IL, however, extensive travel is required in the northern suburbs and the city of Chicago. This position requires flexibility to work on-call, as well as evening and weekend hours in order to interact with participants, partners, and host families.
The iCenter is currently operating on a hybrid work model which allows you to spend time in the Northbrook office and at home.
