NEVER AGAIN ALL OVER AGAIN

A poignant reflection of the history and trauma of the Jewish people, this sketch references two significant tragedies in Jewish history: Tisha B’av and Kristallnacht. The former is the date when both Holy Temples were destroyed and has come to be a commemoration of many other disasters. The latter was a wave of antisemitic violence perpetrated by Nazi officials against the Jews of Germany.

Note: It should be noted that this sketch is not intended to be “funny”—it is a reflection on the trauma of October 7 and its place in the lengthy history of catastrophes to befall the Jewish people.

LAG BA’OMER

In its modern conception, Lag Ba’omer commemorates the Bar Kochba revolt against the Romans. Its most well-known custom is the lighting of bonfires. The historical figures mentioned in the sketch are different people who have, in their times, represented antisemitism and a threat to Israel. Among them are: Gamal abdel Nasser, the enigmatic former president of Egypt; Adolf Eichman, one of the head orchestrators of the Holocaust; Bashar al-Assad, the former president of Syria who perpetrated numerous crimes against humanity; Yasser Arafat, the first president of the Palestinian Liberation Organization; and Amalek, described by the Torah as the eternal enemy of the Israelites and the nation from which all its enemies have sprung.

THE DREYFUS AFFAIR

Following the results of the Dreyfus trial, the French army makes sure Alfred Dreyfus is stripped of ALL his possessions. It took almost ten years until his name was cleared from all charges. Alfred Dreyfus was a French artillery officer who was wrongfully convicted of treason and sent overseas to a penal colony where he spent five years in harsh conditions before his eventual exoneration.

THE PROTOCOLS OF THE ELDERS OF ZION

A panel of ultra-orthodox Jews devises a sinister plot for global domination. Their alleged task, fabricated in “The Protocols of the Elders of Zion,” is interrupted by an argument over the symbol that will represent their nefarious organization. The text has continued to be used by anti-semitic groups in order to popularize belief in an international Jewish conspiracy. It has been circulated as an authentic document by the American industrialist Henry Ford, Nazi Germany, Fascist Italy, and a variety of Arab countries and Islamist groups post-WWII.
